The American Breed

American Breed were a short-lived rock band forming in 1966 and disbanding in 1969. The American Breed would later evolve into a band under the moniker Rufus. Band members included Gary Loizzo (vocals, guitar), Al Ciner (guitar), Kevin Murphy (keyboards), Charles Colbert (bass), and Lee Graziano (drums).

During their time as The American Breed, the band released four albums and six singles. The greatest success the band saw was with the release of the 1967 single “Bend Me, Shape Me,” a song that reached number five on the U.S Billboard charts in 1968.
