Bit ‘A Sweet

Bit 'A SweetFrom: Long Island, NY, USA

Formerly known as The Satisfactions, Bit ‘A Sweet were a 60s psychedelic band from Long Island. Members included Mitch London (bass, percussion, vocals), Russell Leslie (drums, percussion, vocals), Jack Mieczkowski (guitar, electric sitar, vocals), and Dennis DeRespino (keyboards, percussion, guitar, vocals). Bit ‘A Sweet signed with MGM and released the singles “Out Of Sight, Out Of Mind’ and “Is It On – Is It Off” in 1967. Both songs were featured in the 1968 film Blonde On A Bum Trip. Later in 1968 the band released their only album, Hypnotic 1 on ABC. The album was produced by multi-talented Steve Duboff, who actually wrote most of the band’s material. Duboff also penned songs for Ringo Starr, The Turtles, Wayne Newton, The Monkees and others. Duboff would later go on to be a video game designer until he passed away in 2004 from cancer. Hypnotic 1 never found any success and the band broke up soon after. Vincent Bell (guitar, electric sitar) is listed in the album’s credits as a session musician. Bell has played on hundreds for hundreds of artists and commercial jingles, and has invented a number of guitars, including the electric 12-string, and the electric sitar. Leslie went on to record with the band Neon and became a session drummer.
