The Deejays

Originally from London, The Deejays came together in 1962. Original band members were Johnny Vallons (vocals), Pete Chapman (guitar), Buzz Nelson (bass) and Derek Skinner (drums). Both Vallons and Skinner left the band before 1964, and were replaced by John Murray and Erle Morgan, respectively. The band moved to Sweden in 1963 where they spent their entire career, never really gaining recognition elsewhere. The band broke through in 1965 with the song “Long Tall Shorty, which reached #2 on the Top Ten list. The Deejays disbanded in 1968.
