Focus Three

From: London, England

Focus Three was a short-lived studio project out of London that was organized by renowned producer Derek Lawrence (Deep Purple, Pretty Things). The band only ever released one single, “10,000 Years Behind My Mind”/”The Sunkeeper”, in 1967, which was recorded at Abbey Road Studios. Assisting with the effort was conductor/arranger Del Newman and his strings orchestra. “10,000 Years Behind My Mind” is an excellent soulful bit of psych. The song was written by Tony Wilson, Larry Steel and Liza Strike. Steel provided the lead vocals while Strike provided backup vocals. Strike would go on to provide backup vocals for a number of Elton John’s early 70s LPs as well as Pink Floyd’s Dark Side Of The Moon LP.
