The Munks

The MunksFrom: Montreal, QUE, Canada

The Munks were a garage band out of Montreal, Quebec, who played dressed in monks habits. Their debut single, the excellent “Long Time Waiting” / “Heartaches Over My Heads,” was released in 1966, and is a great piece of garage-punk. Their followup single, 1968’s “O-O Je T’aime” / Avancez En Arriere,” is more mainstream pop. The Munks would release one more single later that year, this time under the name Exit 4. Members of the band included Rene Boileau, Tagg Hindsgaul, Ed Kaye, and Rick St. Jean. Kaye and St. Jean would later play together in the band Freedom North.
