The Chimes were much like Dave Diamond and The Higher Elevation in their approach to music. Douglas Huber was a local DJ who wrote weird alliterative lyrics that were spoken over the music of the Chimes, just as The Higher Elevation did on the “Diamond Mind.” The Chimes’ #38 is odd in its own right with flange and tremolo effects and great harmonica.
