From: Napier, New Zealand
The Contacts were a short-lived project out of Napier, New Zealand. The band had a good local reputation. Drummer Johnny Dick would go onto play for acts such as Max Merritt & The Meteors, The Aztecs, Fanny Adams, John Paul Young’s All Stars, and Doug Parkinson In Focus. The Contacts’ version of The Animals’ “When I Was Young” is extremely raw-sounding and was originally taken from a private recording at the Top Hat Club. It can now be heard on Out Of The Cold (1964-72).
