The Cosmic Rock Show

From: Duluth, MIN, USA

The Cosmic Rock Show only ever issued one 45 over their brief career. “Psiship” / “Rising Sun” was released in 1967 on the Blitz Records label. The single has become quite a collectors item. The A-side, “Psiship,” is a true stone classic. The song shows influences of The Mothers Of Invention, The Red Krayola, ? Mark And The Mysterians, and The Doors, creating quite a listening experience. The use of freak-out organ and loose percussion give the song it’s psychedelic overtones. Lines such as “ride to the moon on a psychedelic spaceship, got a feeling it’s gonna be another bum trip” help take the listener on a trip. The B-side, “Rising Sun,” is a comedic version of the Animals take of “House Of The Rising Sun.” The influence of The Mothers Of Invention is also apparent on this track. The Cosmic Rock Show soon faded into total obscurity.
