Raga and the Talas were a folk-rock band who released just one single in September 1966. Both sides of the record were written by Jackie DeShannon. It is believed that the band was a studio outfit fronted by DeShannon’s brother, Randy Myers. It is also said that the band got their name from Ravi Shankar’s album Raga and Talas. Shankar was a World Pacific label recording artist, as was Raga and the Talas. The A-side, “My Group And Me,” is a catchy tune with a strong beat, and the flip side, “For Old Times Sake,” is much the same.
